Why you should watch Pro Wrestling Guerrilla

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, often abbreviated to PWG, is an independent wrestling organisation based in Southern California. The majority of you may never have heard of it, but I hope to change that in this article. In fact, I’ve aready accomplished my goal… Simply from reading the headline to this blog post you have now heard of PWG. You’re welcome.

Now then, why should you go out of your way to watch Pro Wrestling Guerrilla? Well, for starters, the wrestling is second to none. This may seem a rather obvious point to make when talking about a wrestling company but PWG puts on shows like no-one else. From the fun opening matches to the bona fide main events, the wrestlers in PWG put on matches that feature remarkable athleticism, hard-hitting action and, if you’ll excuse the pun, top-rope comedy in between.

The production of PWG’s DVDs is rather well done too. For a small company, they often manage to produce good quality shows where you’re often situated right on the edge of the action. This may falter a little when the matches get a little hectic or scatter around the ringside area (which, incidentally means the fans’ beer-soaked laps), but on the whole PWG DVDs are very well produced and a joy to watch. They’re also relatively cheap with each DVD equating to around £15 inc. shipping to the UK. Check them out here.

PWG also regularly features some of the best wrestlers on the planet today seen outside of WWE, TNA and ROH. Talent such as Davey Richards, Kevin Steen, The Young Bucks and Joey Ryan (cheap plug!) all feature in PWG and they never fail to disappoint. If you want to see real wrestling, and not sports-entertainment, this is where to find it.

An example of everything I’ve just mentioned above can be seen in PWG’s official DVD preview of Steen Wolf, a show which many heralded as “Show of the Year”:

So there you go. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla should be watched because of the amazing in-ring action, the laugh-out-loud comedy and the exceptional wrestlers that contribute to said in-ring action and comedy. Frankly, I love PWG and I wish the company continued success in the future.
