Typically, the Royal Rumble is heralded as the start of WrestleMania season, but WWE made sure all eyes were on the first RAW of 2013 to kick off the road this year.
The Rock returned and had a epic war of words with WWE Champion CM Punk, who successfully defended his title against Ryback earlier in the night thanks to a little help from everyone’s favourite group of loveable rogues, The Shield, and everything else just seemed that little bit better. WWE usually step their game up around this time of year and 2013 seems to be no exception.
You see, The Rock should feature heavily on WWE programming over the coming weeks as he faces CM Punk for the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. Not only will that be a boost for most fans leading into one of the most exciting PPVs of the year, but it’s also going to make WWE’s suits very happy as The Rock tends to equal money. As well as this highly-anticipated title match, there will also be the Royal Rumble match itself which usually features some great nostalgic one-night returns from stars of old or permanent returns of current stars from injury or another company.
