WWE set up Sunday’s TLC PPV with a fantastic closing segment to Monday Night RAW’s Slammy episode.
A Championship Ascension Ceremony closed RAW with the WWE Champion Randy Orton and the World Heavyweight Champion John Cena standing in the ring surrounded by twenty former champions such as recent winner Dolph Ziggler and WWE legend Shawn Michaels.
The championships were hoisted into the air as former greats such as Triple H and Bret Hart looked on. Then, Randy Orton struck.
Hitting Cena with a cheap shot, Orton triggered off a chaotic series of events which saw Orton get into it with Punk, Triple H and CM Punk brawling, Shawn Michaels superkicking Punk, Bryan delivering a running knee to former mentor Michaels and then avoiding an RKO before being pushed into Stephanie McMahon. Still with me? Orton then got himself pedigreed by Triple H after knocking down his wife Stephanie. It was hectic and chaotic as it sounds, but boy was it brilliant.
The last few minutes of chaos followed two excellent, emotional and aggressive promos from Cena and Orton; both of which I recommend watching due to the passion both men showed for the business, the company and the titles themselves. The entire segment was gold, and put across the importance of the match extremely well.
The whole event is available to watch on WWE.com here, and if that doesn’t make you want to see TLC this Sunday I don’t know what will…
WWE TLC takes place on Sunday 15 December.
