WrestleMania 29 undercard gets filled out

The WrestleMania 29 undercard has been filled out this week with two matches being announced on WWE.com

Firstly, the Intercontinental Championship will be defended as Briton Wade Barrettt takes on The Miz.The Miz beat Barrett on RAW Monday night so this match is no surprise. What is surprising is that Barrett even has a place on the card after doing nothing for the past few months.

This one screams classic WrestleMania undercard match. WWE love their fun mixed tags for the big show, although usually the involve celebrities. This time there’s the newly reinvigorated Tensai (or Sweet T) teaming with Brodus Clay and his dancers, The Funkadactyls, to face the team of Team Rhodes Scholars and The Bella Twins. Phew!

Dolph Ziggler recently tweeted about Naomi’s moveset, showing support for the Diva:

It looks like the card may be complete now, guys. WrestleMania 29 is just 11 days away.

WrestleMania 29 now has a ballroom dancer and The Shield on the card

Another RAW, another two matches confirmed for WrestleMania 29 which is now only two weeks away. Time to get excited, people.

Chris Jericho announced on RAW that he would face the mysterious ballroom dancer Fandango at WrestleMania 29 after Jericho and Fandango had an altercation earlier in the show. Jericho attacked Fandango before he was scheduled to debut (again) which then led to Fandango attacked Jericho after his match with Dolph Ziggler. The name-obsessed dancer once again showed a viscous side and demonstrated his unique repertoire and impressive top-rope leg drop.

Elsewhere, we finally got confirmation that The Big Show will team with Randy Orton and Sheamus to take on The Shield. We already expected this, but with it confirmed it can finally be added to the expanding card. The Shield got beat down on RAW courtesy of this new-formed trio but not before they exacted a beat down of their own on The Great Khali.

WrestleMania 29 is just 12 days away. There are two SmackDown shows and one RAW show left before the big one.

WrestleMania 29: Three more matches confirmed

Once again RAW this week was a big one in terms of repercussions for WrestleMania 29 on April 7.

Three matches were confirmed this week, taking the total tally so far to six matches on the card.

The biggest match to be added to the already big card for WrestleMania is this: Brock Lesnar vs Triple H. But this isn’t your ordinary match; it’s a No Holds Barred match, which means both of these brawling behemoths will inflict an immense amount of pain upon each other in what’s sure to be a hard-hitting match in New Jersey. But that’s not all. Thanks to the dastardly, scheming Paul Heyman, if Brock Lesnar wins Triple H must retire. Will we see The Game retiring on the Grandest Stage Of Them All, or will Triple H get revenge on Brock Lesnar?

This one came as a surprise to me. I was expecting Ziggler to have a classic singles match at WrestleMania, possibly against Chris Jericho, but this one came about after Daniel Bryan challenged the pair of Ziggler and Big E Langston to a match on RAW. Langston is the wild card in this one, having not actually wrestled on either RAW or SmackDown. He is, however, the current NXT Champion, which proves something. Kane and Daniel Bryan haven’t done much as a team over the last few weeks, so I expect to see new Tag Team Champions come April 7.

After weeks of teasing on WWE TV, this match has finally been made official. Ryback vs Mark Henry is truly a clash of the titans match-up and should provide the fans with some impressive displays of strength at WrestleMania. This of course has effects to a match that was set-up last week too. Ryback was set to team with Sheamus and Randy Orton to take on the group of The Shield but now it seems that Big Show may step up to take Ryback’s place, despite Sheamus and Orton’s reservations.

Elsewhere, there are rumblings of a possible Fandango debut at WrestleMania, against Y2J himself Chris Jericho. With Fandango costantly putting his debut off week after week, WrestleMania would surely fit with the glitz and glamour of his ballroom dancer gimmick. Whether or not Jericho will pronounce his name correctly or not is another matter. Personally, I have a reservation or two about this, despite knowing Jericho and Fandango have the capability to put on a good match. This one should develop over the coming weeks.

WrestleMania 29 is just 19 days away.

WrestleMania 29 taking shape

**This post is dedicated to the late Paul Bearer (William Moody) who died at the age of 58 on Tuesday 5th March 2013. **

Monday’s RAW was a defining moment on the Road to WrestleMania; The Phenom, The Deadman, The Undertaker returned, signalling that he would be back and competing at WrestleMania 29 in New Jersey.

The Deadman returned at the top of the show, encased in his shroud of darkness and mystery, and told everyone within the WWE, fans and superstars alike, that he would be at WrestleMania to once again defend his undefeated streak.

The race was then on for four of WWE’s biggest stars today: CM Punk, Randy Orton, Sheamus and The Big Show. A fatal-four-way was set up to decide who would face The Phenom, something that struck me as a little odd considering it doesn’t feed into an over-arching story, it’s merely a match set-up out of the blue. But who am I to complain? Taker’s back for another WrestleMania match, and we won’t be able to appreciate that for much longer considering the 47-year-old’s physical shape.

So Punk won, and we now have Undertaker vs CM Punk as another match on the card of WrestleMania 29 alongside The Rock vs John Cena for the WWE Championship and Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship; not bad for the first few matches announced!

It’s here that WrestleMania begins to take shape. With a WrestleMania mainstay like The Undertaker confirmed to be back for the Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania suddenly has a beacon of power and authority back to support the two title matches already announced.

The Rock vs John Cena for the WWE Championship is obviously a huge match. They had a fantastic match at WrestleMania 28 which saw The Rock coming out on top, but this year, things are different. The Rock holds the WWE Championship, and with him not being a permanent member of the WWE roster, I expect John Cena to leave WrestleMania as an 11-time WWE Champion.

On the other side of the coin, the World Heavyweight Championship will be contested between Alberto Del Rio (c) and the newly-reinvigorated Jack Swagger. Swagger’s latest patriot gimmick with Zeb Colter has gone down a storm, with WWE receiving political press from the angle that sees Swagger and Colter making risque comments towards non-Americans much like the champion, Del Rio. I see Swagger walking out of WrestleMania once again the World Heavyweight Champion.

There are also a few matches that should be taking shape over the next few weeks as the Road to WrestleMania heats up. On Monday’s RAW, a Ryback vs Mark Henry match was teased with the two entering a stare down on the entrance ramp. This could be a big match between two powerhouses, and could lead to a WrestleMania moment for Ryback if he could lift Mark Henry up for Shell Shocked.

Another match that could take place is Chris Jericho vs Dolph Ziggler. These two have had a few run-ins over the past few months, with Ziggler eliminating Jericho from the Royal Rumble after Jericho had a fantastic showing upon his return. Maybe WWE will have Ziggler beat Jericho (if the match takes place) and then cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase.

Finally, there should be a Tag Team Championship match somewhere down the line, as well as other matches yet to even be teased. There are still 31 days until WrestleMania, with four RAW shows and five SmackDown shows to take place in that time. Things can change, but know for certain, that things will get very, very interesting.
